Dr. Ken Johnson is a full-time professor and coordinator of the professional counseling degree program at Amberton University. He has served in this capacity since 1991. He has taught both required and elective courses since 1989. He holds a Bachelors (B.S.) Degree in Sociology & psychology, a Master’s Degree in Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Psychology. Dr. Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and an Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP) in the state of Texas. He is also an approved LPC supervisor (LPC-S) with over 30 years of counseling, supervisory, and administrative experience.
In addition, Dr. Johnson is a trained mediator and has experience in doing mediation, custody evaluations, and adoption studies for the Dallas County Family Courts. In addition to working with the family courts, Dr. Johnson has worked in the juvenile courts and adult courts as a juvenile and adult probation officer, family counselor, and administrator.
Dr. Johnson also has experience in working with the Dallas Public Schools conducting psychological assessments as well as individual, group, and family counseling. Additionally, he has worked as a chemical dependency/substance counselor and clinical director of therapy for a private hospital. He specializes in conducting psychological assessments, substance abuse assessments, career assessments as well as helping individuals and families with sexual behavioral problems.
